Our Teams Concept

One Vision. One Standard. One Team Per State.

One Vision. One Standard. One Team Per State

At Ambassadors Baseball, our team structure is unlike anything else in the world of travel baseball. We’ve intentionally designed a model that focuses on elite player development, strong leadership, and competitive excellence — while eliminating the chaos, inconsistency, and politics that often surround youth baseball.

One Team Per Age Group, Per State

Every state has just one Ambassadors team per age group, built and led by a hand-selected coach who specializes in that specific level of player development.

This ensures that every roster is made up of elite players who have earned their spot through effort, ability, and character — not through pay-to-play politics or inflated rosters.

Our coaches don’t move up with their players from year to year. Instead, each coach stays at the same age level and becomes a true expert in that stage of development. Players, on the other hand, move up to a new coach each year — keeping things fresh, competitive, and challenging.

This approach prevents complacency, encourages growth, and ensures that every player must earn their roster spot each season.

Built on Balance and Opportunity

Each Ambassadors team follows a proven roster model designed to maximize both competition and playing time — typically 12 position players and 2–3 pitcher-only players.

We believe every player we select should be on the field developing, not sitting on the bench. That’s why we don’t overload rosters or run “A” and “B” teams. Every Ambassadors team is an “A” team.

Led by Elite Coaches

Our coaches are not volunteers — they are trained professionals who go through a detailed onboarding process, complete mandatory video training, and operate within our organizational standards.

They have full control of their rosters and are responsible for recruiting, player selection, and on-field leadership, while our national office handles all administrative tasks like fee collection, uniforms, and parent/player training.

This allows our coaches to do what they love — coach baseball — while we handle the rest.

Faith, Character, and Excellence

Ambassadors Baseball isn’t just about building better players — it’s about building better people.

Every team in our organization operates under our core values of faith, discipline, accountability, and integrity. Our players are expected to uphold high standards on and off the field, and our coaches model those same values daily.

When you wear the Ambassadors uniform, you’re not just part of a team — you’re part of a nationwide brotherhood built on faith, hard work, and purpose.

A Proven System for Success

From our Individual Development Plans (I.D.P.) and Ultimate Combine evaluations to our strong network of college coaches and scouts, every part of our system is built to help players reach their full potential.

We’ve created a model that develops talent, rewards effort, and opens doors for college and professional opportunities — all while keeping players grounded in faith and character.

Ambassadors Baseball — where elite competition meets lasting impact.

We don’t just build teams. We build men of character, faith, and excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you explain in more detail the strategy of keeping coaches at the same age group year after year?

Sure! At Ambassadors Baseball, our coaches stay at a specific age group rather than moving up with the same players each season. This allows each coach to become a true expert in the developmental needs, skill sets, and mindset of that particular age level.

It also keeps things competitive and fresh for the players. Since they’ll have a new coach the following year, they have to re-earn their spot and make a great impression all over again. That helps prevent complacency and encourages players to stay motivated, focused, and hungry to improve.

This structure creates a healthy balance — experienced coaches who specialize deeply in one stage of development, and players who continually grow through new challenges and fresh perspectives.

Q: Can you explain more about the training provided?

Absolutely! Every player, parent, and coach in the Ambassadors Baseball program completes our video training series before they can participate. This ensures everyone understands the culture, expectations, and high standards that make our program truly special.

The comprehensive training course features short, easy-to-follow videos followed by quick quizzes — typically 18–20 in total. Topics include no profanity, proper dress code, personal hygiene (including no facial hair for players), punctuality, and professionalism on and off the field.

But it’s not just about rules — it’s about building unity and accountability. The training helps reduce drama, improve communication, and create a healthy team culture where coaches can coach, parents can support, and players can thrive. Everyone learns what excellence looks like, and how to live it out daily.

As a fun bonus, parents receive a special T-shirt upon graduation that proudly says, “I graduated from Ambassadors Elite with a 4.0!” It’s our way of celebrating their effort and showing that we’re all in this together — committed to excellence from the dugout to the stands.

Q: How are coaches compensated?

Coaches are paid monthly through a direct ACH transfer, making the process simple and reliable. Once everything is set up, payments are automatically deposited straight into each coach’s bank account — no waiting on checks or dealing with paperwork.

Our goal is to make sure coaches can focus on what they do best — leading, teaching, and developing their players — while we handle the administrative details behind the scenes.

Q: What are some of the advantages of working with a national organization versus just doing this on my own?

Great question — and one we hear a lot! Working with Ambassadors Baseball means you’re not out there trying to figure everything out on your own. You’ve got the full strength of a nationally recognized program — built on Mark Helsel’s 20+ years of experience in elite travel baseball — right behind you.

That experience has led to a proven system of organization, clear policies, and professional procedures that take the guesswork out of running a team. You’ll also have access to our long list of college coaches, recruiting connections, and time-tested strategies and techniques that have helped countless players advance to the next level.

Simply put, having an organization like Ambassadors Baseball behind you means you get the structure, support, and credibility you need to succeed — without having to reinvent the wheel.

Q: At what age group do teams start?

We start at 13 years old — the age where real baseball truly begins. Players are now on 60/90 fields, the same dimensions used in high school, college, and beyond, and they’re beginning to mature both physically and mentally.

We intentionally don’t start with younger age groups because we believe the early years of baseball should stay local, fun, and full of great memories — not long weekends and big expenses. Those “small field” years are special, and we want kids to enjoy them without the pressure of travel baseball too soon.

Once players reach 13U, it’s the perfect time to step into a more structured, competitive, and developmental environment — one designed to prepare them for the next level the right way.

Q: What if I can only coach one season per year?

That’s a great question — but unfortunately, it’s not an option within our program. All Ambassadors Baseball coaches are required to commit to two seasons per year (summer and fall).

We believe consistency and commitment are key to building a strong culture and helping players reach their full potential. Our coaches are more than instructors — they’re mentors, leaders, and role models — and that kind of impact takes year-round availability.

By committing to both seasons, coaches can truly invest in their players’ growth while ensuring the team gets the steady leadership it deserves.

Q: Can I coach if I have a son on the team?

Yes, absolutely! We’ve had some outstanding coaches who also had their sons on the team. It can be a great experience when handled with professionalism and fairness — and many of our best seasons have included that father–son dynamic.

That said, it’s typically a one-year overlap. Since players move up to the next age group each season, but coaches stay at the same age level year after year, your son would move on the following year while you remain in your assigned division.

This approach keeps our system consistent and ensures that every coach, whether or not they have a child in the program, is focused on the full roster — helping every player grow, compete, and develop.

Q: How do Ambassadors Baseball coaches find their players?

Great question! Every Ambassadors coach is responsible for building their own roster — and how they do it depends a bit on the age group.

For 13U coaches, it’s the most challenging (and exciting) part of the job because they’re literally starting fresh with an entirely new team each year. They find players through tryouts, camps, showcases, and good old-fashioned networking.

Coaches at 14U and above have a big advantage — they can scout younger Ambassadors teams throughout the season and identify players who might be a great fit for the following year. This creates a natural pipeline of talent and keeps the competitive standard high across all age levels.

This approach also ensures that coaches have full control over their roster rather than being told who has to be on their team. That flexibility allows each coach to build their dream team — a group that fits their style, standards, and vision — creating a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

It’s a system that rewards proactive coaches, sharp eyes for talent, and relationships built on trust and reputation — all key traits of an Ambassadors coach.

Q: Can I roster as many players as I want?

Yes, coaches do have the flexibility to build their rosters — but we’ve found that balance and strategy are key. Our recommended model includes 4 outfielders, 3 middle infielders, 3 corner infielders, and 2 catchers, for a total of 12 position players.

Of course, some of those players may also pitch, and many teams choose to add a few “pitcher-only” players to round out the roster. That approach provides depth while keeping the lineup manageable so every player gets meaningful playing time.

This strategic roster planning has consistently proven to work well — it keeps teams competitive, players engaged, and ensures that everyone enjoys the experience without overcrowding the bench.

Q: Are fees different for pitcher-only players?

Nope — all players pay the same program fee, regardless of position. Every member of an Ambassadors Baseball team plays an important role and is expected to make a full, 100% commitment to the team.

We don’t separate fees based on position because we believe in team equality. Whether a player’s primary role is pitching, catching, or playing every day in the field, each one contributes to the team’s success and benefits from the same training, development, and experience.

At the end of the day, everyone’s part of the same mission — representing Ambassadors Baseball with excellence on and off the field.

Q: Can my players play on multiple teams?

We understand that players love to play as much baseball as possible — and we love that passion! However, our program is designed with a healthy and complete schedule that provides plenty of games and development opportunities. For that reason, we don’t recommend players take on additional teams during the same season.

When a player commits to Ambassadors Baseball, that commitment is 100%. Our teams rely on dependable rosters and consistent participation, so players aren’t permitted to miss Ambassadors events in order to play elsewhere.

That said, we’ll never stand in the way of a player who has an opportunity to play for another team outside of their commitment window with us. As long as it doesn’t interfere with their responsibilities to their Ambassadors team, we fully support players continuing to grow and enjoy the game.

Q: How many games do teams play in a season?

Our teams typically play in 5–6 events per season, which works out to around 40–50 games across two seasons (summer and fall). We’ve found that this schedule strikes the perfect balance between development, competition, and rest.

Playing more than that often leads to burnout, fatigue, or unnecessary travel — and that’s not what we’re about. Our focus is quality over quantity: competitive events, meaningful innings, and players who are fresh, focused, and improving throughout the year.

Q: How does the organization help my players get recruited?

We take a holistic approach to player development — one that focuses not just on athletic ability, but on the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of every athlete. Our goal is to develop well-rounded young men who stand out for their character as much as their talent.

When that process is done right, college coaches notice. Players who come through the Ambassadors Baseball system are typically more prepared, more disciplined, and more mature — all traits that make them highly desirable to college programs.

We also maintain strong connections with hundreds of college coaches and professional scouts across the country. When we believe a player is ready for exposure, we have no problem getting the right eyes on him. Our reputation, network, and proven development model open doors — but it’s the player’s preparation and character that make those doors stay open.

Q: I read that Ambassadors teams prefer to play on college campuses instead of tournaments. Who makes those arrangements?

You’re right — whenever possible, we prefer for our teams to play on college campuses rather than in traditional tournaments. It’s a better environment for exposure, player experience, and overall development.

The good news is, coaches don’t have to navigate that process alone. The Ambassadors Baseball organization helps coordinate those opportunities through our extensive network of college coaches and recruiters.

With our established relationships and years of experience, we’re able to connect teams with on-campus events that not only provide great competition but also give players a real feel for the college baseball atmosphere.

Q: Do I have to collect player fees?

Nope — that’s one of the best parts about being an Ambassadors Baseball coach! The organization handles all player fees for you, along with many of the other time-consuming administrative tasks that can distract from coaching.

We take care of collecting payments, managing uniforms, and even overseeing the training process for players and parents, so you don’t have to.

Our goal is simple: we want you focused on what you love and do best — coaching baseball — while we handle the behind-the-scenes details that keep everything running smoothly.

Q: Do Ambassadors teams practice?

That’s completely up to each coach, but typically our teams do not practice on a regular weekly schedule like a local team might. The main reason is simple — our players often come from all over the state, and the time and travel required to bring everyone together for frequent practices just isn’t realistic for most families.

Instead, our coaches focus on high-quality instruction and preparation during events, team gatherings, and pre-tournament sessions. Players are also expected to train individually and come prepared. This model has proven to work extremely well, especially when everyone takes responsibility for their own development between events.

Q: How are player fees determined?

We’ve developed an incredible budgeting software tool that takes all the guesswork out of setting player fees. Coaches simply enter their team’s expenses — things like tournaments, uniforms, travel costs, and more — and the software automatically calculates the correct player fee amount.

Our coaches love this feature because it gives them flexibility and control. They can adjust numbers, compare options, and find the exact right balance for their specific team’s needs.

There’s no cookie-cutter approach at Ambassadors Baseball — every team is unique, and our system ensures that fees are accurate, transparent, and fair for everyone involved.

Q: Can you explain in more detail the I.D.P. (Individual Development Plan) that each player gets? Specifically, who creates that for the player?

Absolutely! Every player in the Ambassadors Baseball program receives an Individual Development Plan, or I.D.P. — a personalized roadmap designed to help them grow in every area of the game and in life.

Each I.D.P. is created collaboratively between the player and their coach, with guidance from our organizational leadership when needed. Coaches evaluate the player’s strengths, identify areas for improvement, and outline specific goals and action steps. Players then take ownership by tracking their progress and holding themselves accountable throughout the season.

Every plan includes key development categories such as:

1. Physical: strength, conditioning, nutrition, and recovery

2. Skill-based: hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, and base running

3. Mental: focus, confidence, attitude, and resilience

4. Leadership & Character: teamwork, communication, discipline, and faith

What truly sets Ambassadors Baseball apart is how deeply we care about the individual goals of each player. Yes, we value team success — but we never lose sight of the fact that every athlete has personal dreams, often including the opportunity to play college or professional baseball.

Our founder says it best: “Teams don’t get scholarships — players do.” That’s why we pour so much effort into helping each young man become the very best version of himself, on the field and off.
